A guest lecture at Jalandhar for Asst. Electrician trainees

A visit to the Power House (Samrawan) was carried out by the trainees of Don Bosco Tech Society (Jalandhar) on February 18, 2020. The trip was informative for them who came to know more about the protection of the power system.

Mr. Deepak Chana (Trainer, Asst. Electrician) sought permission and made all the arrangements for the visit. Er. Gurwinder Singh (Manager, Power House) is the one who permitted to visit welcomed the trainees and helped them tour the power plant. As they moved from section to section Mr. Singh kept them informed the details of transformer protection, generator protection, transmission line protection & protection of capacitor banks. In this manner, he covered almost everything about the protection of the power system. In addition to that he also explained the switchgear testing, instrument transformers; current transformer testing voltage or potential transformer testing, and associated protection relay. The close and trip, indication, and alarm circuits different from circuit breakers were some of the significant to electrical asked to explain by the trainees.

It was a fruitful day which the trainees could always recall to. The excitement level was well equated by an apt explanation of Mr. Singh all about the power system. They thanked him for sparing his valuable time to be with them, for the help and insight into the plant and for allowing them to visit the place.
