Field Visit -1 of Domains Phase -10, B3&B4

To add value to the skill-training and to achieve its heights, Don Bosco Tech Society (Karunapuram) had been to Hotel Grand and Reliance Fresh both located at Hanamkonda of Telangana state. The trip was made on February 19, 2020, for the trainees of Hospitality and Sales Associate.

On arrival, the staff and the trainees visited Reliance Smart which is located on the way to Kakathiya Grand Hotel. The Trainees were asked to have a dekko at every department and section. To their awestruck, they found that goods are stacked properly according to its durability, nature and so on. Every department, they found, to have a board displaying its special offer, entice the customer. The section responsible person stationed at each section to see to its smooth functioning of the entire department. This person, they learned, is called CSA (Customer Service Associate) who is assigned to look if any commodity is expiring and thus remove them. They got to know that there is a specific guide-lines to check the expiry dates. Another very important thing they noted was that the CSA should possess the skill to make customers buy the product by captivating them with their affluent communications skills.

After a while, they moved to the Grains and loose and open items section. They saw pulls, grains, and edibles like maize and millet items in boxes and fruits, vegetables and many more.  Every commodity in this section found to have been stacked according to its durability, usability, and so on. One of the CSAs spared his valuable time and showed how to face the products and to look-out for the expiry date and even to calculate the expiry date. “The success of a good CSA is to have a lot of patience to stand even for a whole day,” he said. He added, “CSA must possess that quality to handle and settle the matter even in dire circumstances. Thus enhancing its sale.”

The hospitality and Sales Associate trainees, together visited the Hotel called Grand Kakathiya to have insights into the Stewardship role. The captain described stewardship saying, "A Steward is responsible for the food and alcohol services to the guest while dining in the restaurant. Not just that and also having the responsibility on cutlery and crockery items.”

The visits continued with a visit to each department in the Hotel and Banquet Halls. While the trainees visited the food service section captain demonstrated food serving techniques.

Alas, it was a wonderful experience for many who have never been to such places. Trainees were overwhelmed to have this sort of exposure visits that helps them garner practical knack to work. The management seems to have been happy and do appreciate the cause for which Don Bosco Tech is committed to.
