A visit to Tyrchi Inn, Jowai

On February 28, 2020, the exposure visit was organized by the trainers of Don Bosco Tech Society (Jowai) for the Food and Beverages (F&B) Service Stewards Batch 9 to Tyrchi Inn which is located in and around the scenic landscape of Jowai, Meghalaya. The trip helped the trainees explore every department like F&B, housekeeping, front office, banquet hall, and learned menu and table set up.

In an interaction with Ms. Biangki Rymbai (Senior Staff, F&B, Tyrchi Inn), the trainees got enough insights into the Food and Beverage Services; how to welcome the guests, serving techniques at the restaurant or bar, etc. She further briefed on the preparation of the side station and stressed on seeing every minute detail as is important as it makes the service prompt, effective and professional.

Thereafter, they got to observe the guest rooms of the Inn wherein the trainees took note of the process of room cleaning such as making beds and arranging the tables, etc. Coincidentally one of the housekeeping staff was seen actively doing her duty.

The industrial visit was concluded with a short interaction of trainees and trainers with the staff members of the Inn while they thanked them for sparing their time and for allowing learning and observing the various activities that are taking place.

Back to the center, the moment of a recap was held to reflect and re-connect their learning on the various activities observed during the industrial visits. The short session was concluded with some observations on their visit to Tyrchi Inn and suggestions to take note for the future were shared by the trainees. Mr. Kerlang (Trainee, F&B) gave his feedback saying “I am happy and lucky to have grabbed this opportunity to visit the Inn. This tour has broadened my knowledge about the Hotel Industry with clarity on the job role of an F&B Steward Services. This industrial visit has motivated me even to move out of my native state for job placement. I thank each and everyone who made this trip a grand success.”
