On April 2, 2017, Honorable President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee digitally inaugurated, the first PMKK centre in Kokar during his brief visit to Deogarh in Ranchi. Initiating the Mission “Skilling India” of Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi, Don Bosco Tech Society in partnership with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) kick start the ambitious model training centre. 

Don Bosco Tech, PMKK training centre was established at Don Bosco Industrial Training Centre with the strong urge to impart valuable skills and create a stable future for the underprivileged and deserving youth from Kokar district. The centre offer training in six Sector Skill Councils certified courses namely Sales Associate, Food and Beverage – Steward, Assistant Electrician, Manual Metal Arc Welding / Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Automotive Service Technician (Level 3) and CRM Domestic Non- Voice.

At the venue, Shri Ram Tahal Choudhary (Member of Parliament, Ranchi) inaugurated the PMKK centre at Don Bosco Kokar, in the presence of Dr. Jitu Charan Ram (Member of Legislative Assembly, Ranchi), Mr. Thushar Vijay Vargiya, (Parliamentary Representative), Father A.M. Joseph (Executive Director, Don Bosco Tech Society) Father Shilanad Kerketta, Rector of Don Bosco Kokar, Father Noble, Principal Don Bosco Industrial Training Centre, staff, students and local authorities.
In his inaugural speech, Shri Ram Tahal Choudhary said, “Today education and training must focus to infuse human and social values in the minds of the youth who will be the pillar to take care of his family and the society. Social and moral value based skill training must reflect in the formation of character of the individual which must be reflected in his attitude, skill and knowledge...”

Addressing the audiences, Father A. M. Joseph (Executive Director, Don Bosco Tech) said, “This is a great opportunity to join hands with the government to bring skills training to the youth of our country. Today, society needs quality services which presupposes qualified labour, what Don Bosco offers in skill with focus on life skills that prepares them to integrate in society and lead a dignified life”.

Don Bosco Tech will be setting up 30 more PMKK centres in Karnataka, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh and Delhi. In Jharkhand, Don Bosco Tech will initiate the PMKK centres in Hazaribagh, Kodarma, Lohardhaga and Ramgarh.
The inauguration programme also saw colorful cultural program presented by enthusiastic trainees.
