Guest Lecture on Workers’ Rights Conducted at Don Bosco Tech (SPMS) Polur, Tamilnadu.

“Everyone has the right to work”. To ensure that Don Bosco Tech (SPMS) Polur center organized a guest lecture on Workers’ Rights on April 28, 2017. The chief guest Ms. Regina, Field Support Officer, NABARD Financial Services Limited was the resource person for the day. The chief guest was warmly welcomed and was introduced to the trainees by Mr. Kapilraj. The session kicked off with a prayer song followed by welcome address by Ms. Lakshmi, Trainee. 

Ms. Regina started the session with a brief introduction about worker’s rights and act. She said, “Everyone has the right to work, freedom of choice for employment, to just and favorable conditions of work and protection against unemployment, without any discrimination, has the right to equal pay for equal work”. She especially quoted about the worker’s health and safety rights where every employer is responsible to provide a safety workplace and working environment while following all the safety and health standards. “Workers are encouraged to point out the problems at workplace, feel free to express your thoughts. Every individual worker should have the right for their payment, respect, medical records and all benefits prescribed for their job”, she added.

Post the session she interacted with the trainees individually where some asked her about one’s personal growth in an organization and also the process to file a complaint if any arises, etc. The session finally concluded with the vote of thanks given by Ms. Sharmi, Trainee.
