An Exposure to Hotel Pipal Tree Organized for Hospitality Trainees of Don Bosco Tech – Nitika, West Bengal

An exposure to Hotel Pipal Tree was arranged for the Food & Beverage Service and Production trainees of Don Bosco Tech (Nitika, Kolkata) on May 1, 2017. A total number of 29 students attended the field visit.Hotel Pipal Tree is a renowned restaurant in Kolkata (West Bengal), known for its wonderful ambience and good exposure opportunities for the trainees. Hotel Pipal Tree is an endeavor to combine the old-world charm with contemporary amenities to create for leisure or business travelers, a wonderful and unique experience in terms of service, ambience, food and facilities.  This Hotel offer 35 exquisitely designed rooms consisting suites, deluxe and standard rooms.

Mr. Dulal Krishna Mondal, Hotel Operation Manager, Hote Pipal Tree, welcomed the trainees and initiated the tour to the hotel. During the visit the trainees learned buffet table setup, sitting arrangement and laying of course along with different types of glassware, cutlery, crockery and different types of linen used in buffet service. Trainees also got the opportunity to visit Raya (Contemporary Lounge Bar), Ira (lifestyle café) and Tamara (Fine Global Cuisine), a multi cuisine restaurant. They also learned about the room service and way to take order for room service. Mr. Dulal Krishna Mondal also gave a brief explanation about the hospitality management and its several services in different outlets of the F&B Department. He presented a special session where trainees learned many new terms and service as well as opportunity it opens for the staffs in Hospitality sector. Before the visit concluded, trainees got an opportunity to learn to prepare and serve a continental and Indian Menu with the help of kitchen staff.

Mr. Gourav Ghoswami, General Manager- Hotel Pipal Tree said, Our aim is to enhance student skills and graduate employability through virtual field trips”. He further added, “The Indian hospitality industry requires work-ready graduates who have the skills and knowledge to cope with the pressures of the job and deal with the daily challenges the industry throws up. He also assured promising and successful candidates who would complete their training adequately from Don Bosco Tech, will get a chance to be recruited by Hotel Pipal Tree. Expressing his happiness on visiting Hotel Pipal Tree, Santosh, Hospitality trainee of Year 5 Batch 1 said, It was a great opportunity to go behind the scenes of a hotel and get an insight into what goes on which would help me in my future career.
