A Disclosure to The Hyatt Regency

An exposure to Hotel Hyatt Regency was arranged for the Food & Beverage Service and Production trainees of Don Bosco Tech - Nitika, Kolkata on August 11, 2017. It was the first field visit for the year 5 Batch 3 ITC-MSK candidates in Hotel Hyatt Regency. Hotel Hyatt Regency is a renowned Hotel in Kolkata (West Bengal). The ambience at the hotel was wonderful and gave good exposure to all the trainees. 

Hyatt Regency Kolkata gave an opportunity to the trainees to visit the hotel and witness the ambience and working culture. The visit gave them to visit all the departments where guest get the privileged to relax and rejuvenate while availing boardroom/private workstations, high-speed internet, travel desk, 24-hour room service and Message Services, etc. The hotel also offers meeting and conference rooms, ballroom, poolside for weddings and outdoor venues at terrace lounge, bar or restaurant, outdoor activities like tennis and squash, etc.

A total number of 40 students attended the field visit in Hotel Hyatt Regency. They were welcomed by Miss Nikita Chatterjee (Food & Beverage Manager - Hyatt Regency) and gave a quick orientation about hospitality and its several services provided in different outlets of the Food and Beverage Department. Students also learned the system to control the department, its activities, along with the knowledge of inventory and maintenance. A special session for the candidates to illumine the minds of the candidates on the management and functioning of a Hotel by the General Manager. Under the supervision of Sous Chef, the hotel staff with the assistance of Don Bosco Tech – Nitika students, prepared a continental and an Indian cuisine which was served later to guests.  

The chef said, “A candidate willing to learn new things even in the midst of hardship will make use the best of his/her opportunities and one can begin his/her work from an entry level job but in a period of six to seven months/years he/she has the certainty to reach at prestigious position. This is a quicker option and is apt for those who are absolutely focused on becoming a Hotel executive and do not want to dabble in other fields of hotel management at all”. 

“We had come to know the decorum and acute hospitality having spent the day in Hyatt Hotel which are unforgettable and ever cherishing.” stated by trainees of Year 5 Batch 3.  

The exposure visit was a great learning for the trainees and an opportunity to broaden their knowledge from the book to the mainstream scenario as an employee.
