Meet Priya Rai, a determined 19-year-old from Khoribari, a small village nestled in Darjeeling district. Life wasn't easy for Priya, whose family relied solely on her father's meager income as a land broker. Despite completing her schooling in 2021, Priya decided against pursuing higher studies. She wanted to contribute to her family’s income and lessen their financial burden.

However, the path to employment was far from smooth. Armed with just a 12th-grade certificate, Priya faced rejection after rejection, as most jobs demanded higher qualifications, technical skills, or prior experience. For an entire year, Priya tirelessly searched for opportunities, holding on to hope despite mounting discouragement.

By mid-2022, Priya felt lost and demotivated, worrying about her future and her family’s well-being. It was during this trying time, in October 2022, that she met Mr. Roshan Singh. He introduced her to the Food & Beverage Service Associate training program at the Don Bosco Tech Siliguri center.

The program, with its minimal fee and a promise of employment after a 90-day training, gave Priya the hope she desperately needed. She enrolled immediately, determined to make the most of this opportunity.

After completing her training, Priya’s life took a transformative turn. In March 2023, she secured a job as a service associate at Pumpkin Tales by Grand Bay, a luxury restaurant in Chennai. Today, Priya earns Rs. 14,000 per month, with food and accommodation provided by her employer.

Priya’s journey from a small village to a bustling city is nothing short of inspiring. Her income allows her to send half her salary home every month, providing financial support to her family.
