Medarishisha Kharlukhi, a 21-year-old young woman from Jariot, Diengpasoh, Meghalaya, has always believed in hard work and perseverance. After completing her Class 12 education from KJP Girls Higher Secondary School, Shillong, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree. However, due to financial constraints, she had to discontinue her studies, leaving her uncertain about her future. Determined to find a way forward and support her family, she began searching for opportunities that could help her build a stable career.

Her breakthrough came when her uncle introduced her to the hospitality training program offered by Don Bosco Tech Society under Skill Meghalaya 2024-2025, supported by the Meghalaya State Skills Development Society (MSSDS). The program, a 53-day free training course with job placement assistance, offered her a chance to acquire valuable skills and enter the hospitality industry. Seizing the opportunity, she promptly enrolled in the program, ready to embrace a new path.

Coming from a family of eight siblings, Medarishisha was raised with strong values of resilience and dedication. Her mother, a social welfare worker, and her father, a businessman, worked tirelessly to support their large family. Inspired by their efforts and wanting to ease their financial burden, she took the first step toward a professional career. Before joining the training, she helped her mother manage their family shop, gaining hands-on experience in customer service and business operations. However, she aspired for more—a formal career that could provide long-term growth and financial stability.

At Don Bosco Tech Society, Shillong, Medarishisha’s commitment and enthusiasm quickly stood out. She embraced every aspect of the training, excelling in both classroom sessions and practical learning. During her On-the-Job Training (OJT), she proved her dedication and adaptability, reinforcing her passion for the hospitality industry.

Her perseverance was rewarded when she successfully secured a position at The Leela Bhartiya City, Bengaluru, a prestigious luxury hotel. With the support of Don Bosco Tech Society’s placement assistance, she started her professional journey as a trainee, marking a significant milestone in her career. The job not only provided financial independence but also enabled her to support her younger siblings’ education—a responsibility she took to heart.

Medarishisha’s dedication and hard work did not go unnoticed. Recently, she received the "Intern of the Month" award at The Leela Bhartiya City, a testament to her commitment to excellence and her passion for the hospitality industry. This recognition further motivated her to strive for success, pushing her to refine her skills and aim higher.

Reflecting on her journey, Medarishisha expresses her deep gratitude to MSSDS and Don Bosco Tech Society for the life-changing opportunity. “This training has not only equipped me with skills but has also given me the confidence to chase my dreams. I am immensely grateful for the support and guidance I have received throughout this journey.”
