Amit Kr. Mondal belongs to a poor family and knows the financial struggles that he faced everyday. He hails from Ramnagar, a small village of North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Amit had passed class tenth examination from Mama Bhagina Bapujee Vidyapith, West Bengal. Financial strains compelled him to discontinue his further studies. It was during a mobilization drive in his village where he learned about Don Bosco Tech, training and job opportunities that gave him a thought to begin new lease of life.

On hearing about the BASE program conducted by Don Bosco Tech, Monsada(West Bengal), Amit paid a brief visit to the centre to collect information about the prospect and opportunities that the training will provide. While gathering information, he was also counselled by a trainer and took the Interest Inventory Test (IIT) to understand his interest. Next day he came to the centre with all the required documents to take the admission but was unable to pay the full amount of the admission fees as he could not arrange. However, on consideration of his eagerness to train, he was allowed for the admission.Finally, he enrolled himself in the batch of Hospitality domain under ABF project at Don Bosco Tech, Monsada. The training was rolled out on the 11 of April 2015.

Initially Amit, as a person, lacked confidence and took his time to open upin the class with teachers and fellow trainees. He had a strong interest in the hotel industry that had pushed him to work hard during his entire training. However, in every course of life there always lie an obstacle and for Amit it was his lack of English language and computer skills. He struggled to perform well in his exam during the initials days. It was his determination,hard work and focussed mind that finally took him to his successful completion of Hospitality training. Trainers also guided and motivated all along his struggles and success. He also obtained 90% attendance and highest among his fellow trainees.

He says,I never thought that I could use computer or speak English nor had I dreamed of any success in my life. It was because of Don Bosco Tech, that today I not only speaks English well but also is proficient in computer skills. More importantly, I learned the value of punctuality, discipline and effective communication skills that will help me throughout my career. On successful completion of 2 months intensive training with a commendable record,Amit got a job placement as a steward at Castrol Resort, Goa. He joined the resort on the 29June, 2015 with a salary of Rs.6500.00 per month including food and accommodation. Amit parents were very happy about Amit working in with Castrol resort. In the beginning, his parents were skeptical about sending Amit far away from home but it was only after they spoke to the trainers who assured them about the safety and security. Trainers also encouraged Amit to start working. Today Amit is confident young man and is earning well to help his family. He also look forward towards more success in his career.
