“I am so proud to share my story with Don Bosco Tech Society where my journey started and I am very grateful that I am remembered as an alumnus of this wonderful family”, Lata Chhetri says

Her story is an inspiration to many youngsters. Coming from a small hamlet called Lebong in Darjeeling, Lata had a dream like many young girls of her age. Being the daughter of a single mother, life was at times difficult but her mother left no stones unturned to give Lata the comforts of what she could afford. Don Bosco Tech Kalimpong came as a blessing in disguise to this young girl who grasped the opportunity to enroll herself in the Housekeeping course that was offered to her.

She knew she would make it good and had her future planned from the very beginning. Her only motivation was to make her Mother proud and help her financially at the same time. On successful completion of the training, Don Bosco Tech gave Lata the opportunity to work with Abaam Hotels where she started her journey as a Hotelier in the year 2013 with a monthly salary of INR 6K.

Now 8 years later and after plenty of struggles and hard work, she is working with Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Seychelles. During this period she successfully completed her Virtual leadership Programme conducted and organized by the hotel and earned the position of Restaurant Supervisor with a monthly salary of INR 60K. Her dedication and focus on achieving her goals helped her reach this place. Now happy and content she can earn and help her mother.

Here is a small inspirational note from her manager to her on the day she completed her Virtual leadership Programme: “Lata completed her Lead 1.1: Virtual Leadership Development from Harvard University successfully! Lata has shown dedication and discipline which resulted in great learning. "Change is automatic, progress is not", I am proud to recognize Lata for choosing to progress despite the challenging times and for her determination to complete this course successfully. May her journey of success be high.”
