Sunanda Toppo completed training in General Duty Assistant (GDA) from Don Bosco Tech, Latabari, and is presently working at Portea Home Medical Care Services, Bangalore with a total salary of 18,050 per month. She had always been interested to pursue a career in Health Sector and wanted to be a GNM professional. But could not pursue it due to the huge course fees. She comes from a small place at a tea garden called Haldibari in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. Her Father, Birender Toppo, is the only bread earner of the family, and her mother a homemaker. Her family solely depended on the income from the tea garden. However, the meager wage of her father could not fund her education. After her 12th standard, there was no way but to drop out of college. Good thing is that, despite the financial constraints, she never lost hope. She spent sleepless nights thinking about how to support her parents. To find a way out she traveled to Tamil Nadu to do any odd job and to fund the GNM course. A ray of light came on her way while working in Tamil Nadu. It was that time when she came to know about the GDA advance course offered at Don Bosco Tech, Latabari, West Bengal, she returned to her native place. After visiting the training center, she came to know more about the course and its scope. Without hesitation, she enrolled herself. Though it was not a Diploma course, she knew, at least this will be foundational for her ultimate goal.

She was focused during the three months course. She would go out of her way, raising doubts, seeking answers. She always takes the initiative of leading the class whenever group assignments or tasks were given by the trainers. Her discipline and dedication paid off as she was selected by Portea Home Medical Care Services, Bangalore through a telephonic interview. She joined on March 12, 2021, with a total salary of 18K per month. Her thirst for becoming a GNM nurse has not been quenched. With her savings, she will join the course to fulfill her dream.
