“I am grateful to Don Bosco Tech and ITC for transforming my life. I am now confident to handle customers and dealers with brand-related queries at my workplace. I know products and the latest technologies used in the Retail sector. None of this would have been possible without the intervention of Don Bosco Tech Society,” said Sumant Rana.

Sumant Rana hails from a village Hartara in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Her father is a farmer whose income proved to be insufficient for sustaining the livelihood of the family. The financial constraints surrounding Sumant’s family pushed her into a direction that was astray of education. Post completion of Class XII, she started looking for work to financially assist her family.

She was very fortunate as she crosses paths with a student who recommended her to join the free skill training provided by Don Bosco Tech Society. The organization has touched the lives of many youths through skill training and employment opportunities. The skill training has helped them to secure a better livelihood and earn respect in society.

Due to financial constraints and no fees required for the training, she enrolled herself for the job role of Sales Associate in the Retail sector after personal counseling and guidance from the trainer. During the training, she received training specific to the job role and also in soft skills, safe work practices, teamwork, self-development, fire safety, emergency handling procedure, first aid, and work readiness. The course was supported by ITC and the trainers taught the students both theoretical and practical aspects of the job.

On successful completion of the training, she secured a job as a Sales Person at Win Cure Pharma in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh with a monthly salary of INR 12500. As a result of the training Sumant have been able to complete her tasks effectively and comfortably and to achieve the company’s target. Her takeaway from this experience is that everyone should acquire skills to acquire gainful employment, which is now easy and free through Don Bosco Tech Society. Her parents are very proud of her.
