Sandhiya Gopi Padayachi (Tele Sales Officer, Teamlease Services, Mumbai) earning a monthly salary of Rs. 15,000-. When asked what she has learned, she replied saying she is still learning how to use both her strengths and weaknesses in life.

Sandhiya is a 21-year-old girl from a middle-class family in an Eastern suburb in Mumbai. Her origin is from the Southern part of India. She lives with her father, an electrician, and her mother, a homemaker, with three siblings. Her weakness in her academics is language. She can barely speak or understand Hindi or English as she completed her 12th standard in the Tamil medium of education. She wanted to get a good job as soon as possible as she did not want to rely on her Parent’ support for too long.

Her desire did not take too long as she was enrolled with the Don Bosco Tech, Trombay center for free skill training. She opted for the CRM Non-Voice job roll. At first, she was very hesitant and shy because of her language. It was hard for her to talk to others, communicating with gestures. There was a time when she left out. As a result, she discontinued the training. Her trainer reached out to her to know the reason for her not attending classes. Counseling was given to her by her trainer. Eventually, she realized that if she wanted to do something and become someone, she will have to interact with people and make herself get molded. With the help of the trainer, she went out of her way, spent more time learning basic Hindi and English in just two months. Her interest made her learn the language easily. On completion of the training, she was selected by Teamlease Services in Mumbai earning a monthly salary of 15000. She did not deprive herself of any opportunity when it came to leisure time. Looking back at her experience in the training center, she was happy that she made the decision to be opened minded which is an impact on her betterment.

Having a job, Sandhiya’s outlook changed drastically from the way she speaks to the way she carries herself at work. She was very dedicated and tenacious.
