Kingkor Talukdar, aged 25, from the outskirts of Nalbari is a fine example of cheerful courage and determination in the face of persistent adversity.Though, he belongs to the poor family but still holds the courage to go up and fulfill his dream. His Father Kanak Talukdar runs a very small timber business which is not sufficient to meet even the domestic expenses of his family set aside educational expenses of the children. All this forced him to take some job to help his family and himself, he gave interview at several places but to be unsuccessful.

On the other side, as each day was passing by, it was becoming difficult for his father to run the family with his small household business that generates meager income. All this led his father scold him at sitting idle at home, he furiously asked him to look for some job as he is a well grown child. All these things made him really depressed; feeling bad he went to his uncle’s house. There his uncle told him about DB Tech that has launched a BASE programme in partnership with MoRD. This programme offers skill training in several domains that directly helps the unemployed youth get free training, free accommodation, and free food with the assured job placement.

The BASE Programme seemed to him like a silver lining amidst the dark clouds, as he could see some rays of hope peeping into his dark and gloomy life. Without wasting much time he visited the Center located in Guwahati Kharguli and took admission in the Hospitality domain. Quite surprisingly he came out to be one of the intelligent, sharp, disciplined and humble candidates. “He always used to participate in all the activities very eagerly, whether it is an inter-active sessions or games,” says Mr. Sushil Das (Housekeeping Trainer, DB Tech, Kharguli). After completing the training he turned out to be a good speaker and at the time of placement got shortlisted for the interview with Café Coffee day. He was really excited to attend this interview and leaving up to everyone’s expectation he cleared all the five rounds of interview and got selected for Café Coffee day at the monthly salary of Rs 6, 000 with other allowances. It was a very proud moment for not only the trainers at Kharguli centre but also Kingkor, whose dream has just come alive. Now, he is helping his family financially and also pursuing his Graduation from IGNOU. Kingkor’s father is very happy as today he proudly says that “Kingkor is my son”. Now after 1 and half year Kingkor promoted from L2 to L1.
