Rumi Rajbongshi aged 22, who hail from the outskirts of Nalbari is a fine example of cheerful courage and determination in the face of persistent adversity.Though the family she belongs to has a low economic status, but the courage this girl has to go up and full fill her ambition is much higher. Her Father Narayan Rajbongshi runs a very small shop which generates very less income which is insufficient to take over the domestic expenses of the family and educational expenses of Rumi Rajbongshi.

Depressed about the poor condition of the family she decided to work outside and earn some money for the betterment of the family. She went to one of her friend to discuss her wish to work and to get some suggestions over it. Her friend told her about BASE, a 3 months skill training programme being launched by DB Tech in partnership with MoRD. She was also told that training is supported with job assistance. Eager to know more Rumi Rajbongshi visited the nearest DB Tech centre which is located at Kharguli, Guwahati. She was shocked to know that the training is provided free of cost.

The BASE programme proved to be a potential opportunity to her because she could see some rays of hope peeping into her dark and gloomy life. She got her name registered for the domain – Hospitality. “During the period of her training, she came out to be one of the intelligent, sharp, disciplined and humble candidates. She used to participate actively in all the programme activities, be it inter-active sessions or games,” says Mr. Bobby Borborah (Sales & Marketing Trainer, DB Tech, Kharguli). Rumi hosted couple of shows during her training and turned out to be a good speaker. She used to share warm relation with all the trainers and has carved her own niche in the hearts of all trainers and trainees. She grasped every single opportunity to come in front and speak in English.

At the time of placement, she was shortlisted for the interview at Big Bazar. She cleared all the five rounds of interview and excelled in the interview. She is today drawing the salary of Rs 4, 500 plus other allowances at Big Bazar. She got married to Dipankar Adhikari who works in the same office where she works. Rumi is today happily supporting her both the families and feels proud to do so.
